University Innovation Center
Andalucía, Algarve, Alentejo
Educational
Project Description:
The CIU3 University Innovation Center was conceived as a strategic space for promoting knowledge, applied research, and cross-border cooperation between Andalusia, the Algarve, and Alentejo. Its architecture responds to the principles of functional flexibility, sustainability, and international vocation, aligning with the objectives of the European Euroregion AAA project.
A versatile building was designed, capable of housing laboratories, multipurpose classrooms, coworking spaces, and meeting areas that encourage interdisciplinary work and knowledge transfer. The spatial configuration was designed to adapt to contemporary innovation dynamics, promoting interaction between academic, business, and institutional agents.
Energy efficiency was ensured through passive solar control strategies, cross ventilation, the selection of sustainable materials, and intelligent environmental management systems. The architectural image was defined by a sober and contemporary aesthetic, reinforcing the institutional character of the center and its role as a hub of reference in southern Europe.
This intervention consolidated a key facility for territorial development, capable of generating synergies, attracting talent, and projecting a shared vision of the future among regions.
