Public Housing in Trujillo
Cáceres, Spain
Residential
Project Description:
The Social Housing project in Trujillo was conceived as a respectful and contemporary intervention, in direct dialogue with the traditional architecture of the surrounding area. A white, bold, and immaculate volume was proposed, which blends naturally into the urban fabric of the city, characterized by its historic light stone buildings, simple roofs, and sober geometries.
The formal purity of the complex translates into restrained, unpretentious architecture, where scale, proportion, and materiality are aligned with the heritage context. The white exterior not only responds to aesthetic criteria but also climatic ones, promoting solar reflection and thermal comfort in an area with intense summers.
The layout of the dwellings was resolved through a functional and efficient structure, with typologies adapted to social needs and orientation criteria that maximize natural lighting and cross ventilation. The entrances, courtyards, and walkways were designed to create spaces for social interaction and transition, while maintaining privacy and dignity.
This intervention consolidated a model of public housing that combines urban sensitivity, architectural rigor, and social commitment, contributing to the cohesion of Trujillo's built landscape without sacrificing contemporary expression.
